Open Positions

Ph.D. and Postdoc

Are you motivated and creative student or postdoc with a strong interest in cell biology and genetics? Would you like to participate in our effort to functionally characterize the gene regulatory networks comprising stress inducible transcription factors and their effectors in development and cancer using a genetically tractable Drosophila model?

We are always interested in applications from bright and enthusiastic Ph.D. and postdoc candidates.

Applicants should have expertise in molecular and cell biology techniques, and have an interest in utilizing high-throughput genomic technologies. Background in Drosophila genetics is required, and knowledge of basic bioinformatic tools is welcome. Good command of oral and written English is essential. The Ph.D. candidates must hold a relevant Master degree or its equivalent.

Successful candidates will combine state-of-art Drosophila genetics with tools of cell biology, biochemistry and genomics and work with mammalian cellular cancer models.

The candidates will benefit from an excellent environment made possible by the CECAD initiative, which brings together the best scientists of the Cologne campus. CECAD facilitates the intersection of researchers with diverse expertise to foster collaborations that are supported by modern infrastructure and core services. Oversight of graduate student training is performed by the International Graduate School of Biological Sciences and the CECAD training program at the University of Cologne.

To apply, please forward your CV, a brief statement of research interests including motivation for the application, and contact information for two references to mirka.uhlirova[at]uni-koeln.de.
